They may die of old age, a heart attack, a complication of the type of kidney disease the patient has. Or they may choose to stop treatment.

The top two reasons that people end up on dialysis are uncontrolled diabetes, and uncontrolled pressure. The rest of the reasons are due to autoimmune diseases, genetic disease and a several others.
