How does the use of disinfectants (hand sanitizers, disinfectants used in washing machines, etc.) affect the antimicrobial resistance of microbes found all around the world?

My best guess would be … not at all. Our interventions in the microbial world are important for us, but localised, transient and unnoticeable from their point of view. Oceans, sediments, the Arctic, tundra, deserts - microbes are abundant where we don't exist at all.
