Almond milk actually has no nutritional value. It is made by taking the brown almond husk (not the actual nut or nut shell) and extracting it with water. It eventually turns a white color, but has no nutrients. Sometimes the manufacturer will add sugar or flavors like chocolate or vanilla, and sometimes it says unsweetened and unflavored. If you are lactose intolerant, almond milk would be a good substitute. Regular milk does have a lot of good nutrients including milk sugars, proteins, minerals and fat depending on whether it is fat free, 1%, 2% or whole milk.
