Is corn a grain or vegetable? And if it is a grain, why is it considered a vegetable?

Its a whole grain. In mass population, especially in the midwestern states, it is considered a vegetable for these reasons:

1..like most vegetables it's grows up out of the earth and is a bright colour unlike most grains.

2..it is a mass vegetation crop that is easily planted and grown for a large population. Marketing it as vegetable ensures it will be consumed in good sale quantities keeping it profitable.
