My roasting pans are stainless steel, but they still mark after being used in a hot oven. Should this happen?

Stainless steel has to be cleaned just like any other cooking utensil. They can be cleaned up easily by lining with foil or by cooking roasts in a cooking bag.

However I have a stainless steel pot that I cook almost everything in. If the heat is too hot things will burn. Unless I soak and scrub with a rough sponge the marks or burn spots will remain.

This is simply part of cooking.
