What is the difference between beveling and chamfering in mechanical engineering aspects?

Chamfering prepares the 'edge' for welding etc. Hence, helps in welds that are only required at edge.





Beveling prepares the 'face' for welding by giving a slanted face instead of the previous vertical face. Hence, helps in welds requiring end-to-end (face-to-face) connection resulting in a stronger bond although at cost of more welding material/energy used.
