What makes India the largest democracy even when one of the four pillars called "the press" seems to be no more neutral?

I am not sure what a neutral or biased press has to do with the elementary definitions of democracy.

Here are the main points of Merriam-Webster’s definition of democracy:

government by the people

especially : rule of the majority

a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections .

And of course, India is the largest democracy because India has the most voters among all democracies.
