Why do I never cry when cutting onions, like seemingly everyone else?

I'm somewhat hazy on details, but different people are more or less sensitive to the chemicals (something with sulphur that forms in contact with oxygen, IIRC) that cause tear flow when cutting or peeling onions.

Some tear up if someone peels a mild onion a metre or two away, others can peel a whole 10kg sack of the nastiest brown onions 'brunoise' and never as much as blink...

Most of us are somewheee inbetween. Apparently, you have quite a high tolerance.
