I see a lot of answers here talking about it’s a stupid thing the new generation does. I’ll tell you why I started, maybe it is stupid maybe not, point is everyone decides for themselves. You see, my memory sucks, really it does. I started experimenting with food and different cuisines a few years ago. I had time and I wanted to improve my cooking/baking skills and I started taking pictures to keep a track of what I was making, I slaved for hours on dishes, learnt new techniques, of course I couldn’t keep the end product as a keepsake for all my efforts, so I took photos to remind me what I did and how I can improve. Few years down the line, now it helps me see how much progress I made. I am passionate about food, creating new recipes and making them look appetizing, after all you feast with your eyes as well. And I realized I shared my passion with some of my friends and a whole community of people online, so I started posting them too. It brings me joy to share my creations with people who are interested in the same and get inspired from photos that other people post as well. Just like there’s a story behind pictures of travel, food also tells a story, of how a specific dish came about, maybe the recipe was developed during a period of war when things had to be rationed, or it was due a particular geographic location and the ingredients available there at the time. So as much as posting photos of food may seem vain to some, food really does bring people together in all sorts of ways!
