look at POSitive Software out of Washington State. It uses a robust SQL database and for stock control it is designed with min/max levels and auto ordering reports. like any other softwar, educate yourself and spend good time. Don't forget that test driving the software before you go for it.

It really depends on your website and what you are trying to do. If you want to provide people with information but with minimal interaction with that information, then you should have a blog. A blog is great for a business website. If you are looking for people to engage with each other and have discussions, then a forum is a better way to go.
